HTC Touch.B (with Android) instead of Touch2 (WinMo) Coming to Rogers?

A bit few weeks ago, I posted something about the HTC Touch2 which might be coming to Rogers. Today, mobifrance.com has posted some photos of an updated version of the Touch2, but running Android. After reading that post, I notice that the phone looks exactly the same as the leaked photos I posted earlier, however the phone is just in greenish-brown. Also, looking at the buttons on the older photos, I don’t see any Windows Mobile buttons. Still, however, I don’t know if this Touch.B will go to Rogers, or not, I’m just thinking.

Novatel MiFi pops un on Bell’s website

The Novatel Wireless portable WiFi hotspot, known as the MiFi, is finally available from Bell. It only comes in white, with that huge Bell logo on it, but don’t be fooled, it’s smaller than it looks; the thing is designed to fit in a pocket, so you don’t have to haul around a bag with you. The pricing is really great, starting at 99.95 on a 3-year contract, and going up 50$ every year you add on, except for the off-contract, that’s strangely the same price of the 1-year contract; so whats the moral here? Don’t get a contract if you don’t have too. Strangely, looking at the specifications, I noticed that it uses 7.2 mbps downloads. That, to me, is stupid, because this device is supposed to take advantage of that HSPA network which was released about a month ago. Also, it uses 802.11 b/g, no N there, so that won’t be as fast, but it doesn’t really matter, because B is enough to take care of 7.2 mbps. The plans are the same as any other Data plans, and you can see them here, if you don’t want to leave my website, the plans start at 30$ for 500mb, and go up to 85$ for 5mb (which is the max).

Bell releasing Samsung Galaxy December 10th

Bell has announced that the Samsung Galaxy could be yours on December 10th. That’s bringing Bell into the Android game, which has started getting more popular in Canada. The Samsung Galaxy looks a lot like the Samsung Moment, however, it doesn’t have a slide-out QWERTY. It comes with the vanilla version of Android 1.5, which is getting boring compared to 2.o and HTC Sense or MotoBlur which is seen in the US. The Galaxy is to me a low entry to Android, and it’s basically the Magic from Rogers, but updated to today’s smartphone standards, with a 5mp camera, 3.5mm headphone jack, and everything you’d expect from any other smartphone.

Rogers releases Samsung Forever

Rogers has finally unleashed the Samsung Forever (really great name to try and separate it from the Solstice on AT&T, which was released  forever ago!) to be used by us Canadians. It’s a basic touchscreen-feature phone, however it doesn’t have a QWERTY. It run’s that Touch Wiz interface, which I personally like, yet hate, because it’s a decent effort at a customizable feature-phone, but it’s widgets aren’t up to par, and some of them things are just icons. Still, it’s a great phone, with 3G, and a decent UI, but I would buy the Xenon if I were in the market for a messaging phone with a touch screen. It’ll cost you:

3-year contract: $79.99
2-year contract: $129.99
1-year contract: $229.99
No Contract: $279.99

I highly recommend getting it off-conrtact, because it’s only 50 $ less than 1-year, or if you’re not in that price range, just please spend the 50 $ to upgrade from 3-years to 2-years, because you grow to hate your carrier, even if it is was the “most reliable” in Canada

Bell launching MiFi November 30th

Bell has announced that the Novatel MiFi 2372 Intelligent HotSpot will be launching on November 30th. The MiFi is a device that creates a WiFi using Bell’s 21.6 mbps HSPA+ network. The network works for 4 hours, and can be connected to up to 5 computers. It’s a great device for users with a Smartphone and a computer who travel a lot, because they get fast speads, and it doesn’t affect the calling on your phone.

Telus getting LG IQ? (Update:Confirmed, and looks sweet)

Here’s some leaked photos of the LG IQ which clearly runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 with the Telus logo on it. This would be the first Windows Mobile 6.5 phone in Canada, and this one doesn’t seam like a bad place to start. Theres not many details on the phone, 3.2 inch touchscreen, and a 5.0 megapixel camera. The rest are for your imagination to think of. I expect to see this phone com out in January, close to the Droid/Milestone launch.

Update: howardchui has posted a hands-on video. The phone sports a 1 ghz Snapdragon processor, 840×480 pixel screen, a beautiful QWERTY, a fingerprint reader, and on top of Windows Mobile 6.5, it runs LG’s S-class interface. You can also get some add-ons like the projector you see in the video. However, the one thing that might turn you off is that it has no 3.5 or 2.5mm headphone jack, it uses micro-USB. This is for sure the best Windows Mobile phone to ever make the trek north to Canada.

Telus beats Rogers in court over “most reliable” claims

While AT&T and Verizon have their fights down South, up here, Telus is having a little more private fight. Ever since Belus’s new HSPA+ network was unleashed to the wild of Canada on November 4th/5th, people have been questioning it’s reliability, and coverage. It’s been left for the court to decide that everyone is equal, and that nobody is better (seriously!). So, now we’re only going to have more of those web phone ads from Rogers, smartphone ads from Telus, and Bell is just going to air those creepy Palm Pre ads. This is the way life should be.

BlackBerry Storm2 available on Telus

The BlackBerry Storm2, aka 9550, has finally been posted on the Telus website. The new Blackberry features a second effort of the SurePress technology, which is apparently much better, as well as WiFi. The phone is running on the CDMA network, so you won’t get a SIM Card for Telus’s network. It is, however, a world phone, so you’ll get a SIM card for use internationally. The pricing is 199.99 on a 3 year contract, and 599.99 off contract; whereas the old storm is 99.99 on a 3-year contract, but still 599.99 off-contract.

Rogers Announces Rocket Hub

Rogers has announced the new Ericsson device which acts pretty much as a MiFi or AT&T’s 3G micro-cell. What it does, is created a WiFi network that could be used by up to 15 computers at once which runs on Rogers 3G, 7.2 meg network. It can also be used as a cell tower because you can place call’s using it, however, it’s not a VoIP service. Plans start at 35$ for 3gb and no voice, and go up to 75$ for 10gb and unlimited calling. These prices are great, compared to internet on smartphones which starts at 25$ for 500mb on Rogers. Overall, great pricing, but I don’t really see who Rogers is targeting with this product, because it seams to be an other bill to add onto your usual bill; and I don’t think they’re having network congestion issues.

Did you get Call of Duty:MW2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came out a few days ago, and I was just wondering if you got it. I got a pre-order, but Canada Post says it’s only going to arrive on Tuesday. If you did get it, how is it? Do you play online, if so, what’s your XBOX Live Gamertag (I don’t have a PS3, sorry).
