Which Android Smartphone should I get? (Telus)

TELUS: Telus is a great mobile carrier, who keeps ahead of the game in various markets, including Android.

- HTC Hero: The Hero is a great phone, which I would recommend to anyone who is new to Android, or if you just want to have something different from an iPhone. (I have a Hero) However, the Hero is a bit laggy at times, so it might get aggravating if you don’t take proper care. It’s still a nice phone, because of HTC Sense, and Android 2.1 will make it an even better choice (2.1 is supposed to come “soon”)

- HTC Desire: The HTC Desire is for sure the best Android Phone available from a carrier in Canada. Considered a “superphone”, it has a 1ghz processor, 3.7″ Super LCD display, and a beautiful body that blows away other high-end Android’s like the Milestone. If I were any TELUS customer looking to renew a 3-year contract, this would be a no-brainer, because its 2 times faster than the Hero, Almost 2 times faster than the Droid, and much better than the Backflip in every way. It also runs one of the latest versions of Android (2.1), and is slated for an upgrade in the upcoming months to 2.2 (Froyo)

- Motorola Milestone: The motorola milestone, also known as the droid in the US, is a high-end Android 2.1 Smartphone. The phone is one of the top in the market, however, is can’t be considered a superphone in the same class as the Nexus one and versus other 1ghz smart phones. It is, however, the most powerful Android on TELUS to date.

- Motorola Backflip: the Backflip by Motorola is a MotoBLUR phone with Android 1.5. It has many new features which are nowhere to be seen on other phones, but most of those features are just additional ways to make the Backflip feel more like a feature phone. MotoBLUR isn’t as well as advertised, and the rest of the phone isn’t up to par. Even if it has the same specifications as the HTC Hero, it doesn’t fight for the same market of people, rendering it useless for most people.
