Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy S a few months ago, but it’s taken a while for a version to come to America. Recently, they announced 4 smartphones which are based of the one Galaxy S. All these flavours of Galaxy S devices have 4″ Super AMOLED displays, they run Android with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 skin, they have 1ghz Hummingbird processors, and they all have a 5mp camera with 720p video capture. The original Galaxy S has a few additional features like a front-facing camera.
The Epic 4G for Sprint is a Wimax “4G” (understand 4G here) smartphone with a slide-out lanscape QWERTY keyboard. In addition to the usual specifications of all the other Galaxy S flavours, it has a front-facing camera, and an LED Flash. Unfortunately, that flavour of the Galaxy S will likely never be coming to Canada. Next, the Samsung Fascinate is Verizon’s version. That device hasn’t been released yet. Next, the Samsung Vibrant is T-Mobile’s version, and it highly resembles the original Galaxy S. This is the version that Bell has already launched (for 150$), and SaskTel promised to release (for 150$). Although the device is beautiful, its still very plasticky, and some reviewers prefer the Samsung Captivate on At&t. The Captivate is likely the sexiest version of all 5 devices (including original Glalaxy S), because of it’s slim design, and it’s less plasticky than the other versions. That version has been confirmed to be coming to Rogers in the near future. We still have yet to hear of anything from TELUS, which is devastating, because TELUS has a very advanced ligne of Android phones that could really use a larger device like this one.
