I’ve actually been deciding on which phone to get for a while, and when the HTC Amaze for TELUS came around, I knew this one was mine. 8 megapixel camera with dedicated camera buttons for my inner photographer, and an amazing build of android, HTC Sense, built right in. I had looked at other phones on other carriers to unlock and bring onto TELUS, but I wanted a 4G experience, so I knew I needed something from my carrier. The 4G on this phone isn’t going to blow your mind, but lag in internet videos is inexistant, and TELUS has been able to expand 4G coverage to nearly everywhere I go. With my 4G speeds, I do a lot of video streaming, mostly through YouTube, but also by movies downloaded from the Android Market. They look beautiful on the screen, with a qHD resolution. My only major problem on that topic is the speakers, which will be covered in my full review. They’re placed on the back side, so I have to cup my hand appropriately to bounce the sound towards my ears, not the person in the next room.
Thinking of getting a new phone on TELUS? Samsung’s Galaxy SIIX looks great in specs, but I know from experience that TouchWizz is miserable. Then why not the Galaxy Nexus? It’s missing so many features that are in the Amaze (SD slot, camera buttons, HTC Sense UI, etc.) I might be trying to justify my $600 purchase by saying this, but I think the Amaze is the best phone on TELUS’ lineup to date.
